Puzzle #8: Retail Therapy

Hi! Midi themeless today. Clues and answers range from instaplonks (in Puzzmo -speak) to downright odd. There's a bit more (non-obscure) crosswordese than I'd like, so I'm focusing on being more eagle-eyed around fill in general. This puzzle also contains two examples of my favorite cluing angle: defining an idiom literally. EXAMPLE: "Be blunt, like when talking about shovels" for "call a spade a spade."  In other news: I beat my best time on the NYT puzzle by getting 2:51 on the Monday this week . I've also been enjoying APIH Minis this month. If you're just learning about this now, you've got 13 puzzles already! If you're from the future going through my blog archive, then you've got a full 31-day month of minis! Post-solve links: 20-Across . 14-Down . 16-Down .  Favorite Clues/Answers: 1...

Puzzle #7: My Condolences

Hi! New updates on the blog today. First of all, I was in Just One Clue 3 this year! I'm right in the middle of the puzzle (65-Down). It released at the ACPT, but I forgot to announce on the blog. Second, I'm going to start putting title cards on the PuzzleMe applets so it doesn't automatically start when you open the page. The puzzle today is a bit of an odd one. I couldn't get the theme answers nicely in one open grid where they weren't too far apart, so they all get their own sections. The top and bottom sections were the first I thought of. I then expanded the puzzle with the other two.  Favorite Clues/Answers: 32-Across, 1-Down, 38-Down PDF Across Lite Made with the crossword puzzle maker from Amuse Labs

Puzzle #6: April Showers

Hi! First 15x15 and themeless on the blog today! As you might've inferred by the title, this one is a bit more challenging than previous puzzles. 37-Across was the seed entry and 55-Across came in shortly after. The latter I decided to add after stumbling upon it on Wikipedia. In  the second instance on this blog , I have an obscure name clue that I cut, this time for 17-Across .  Favorite Clues/Answers: 16-Across, 19-Across, 37-Across, 62-Across, 38-Down, 58-Down PDF Across Lite Constructed using the online crossword puzzle builder from Amuse Labs

"The emblem of Queen Elizabeth's  22-Across  6-Across"  Hiya! This was one of the first (decent) crosswords I ever made, though that was only about a year ago. There's a lot of extra things related to the theme, including the shape of the grid! I've provided two versions: an easier one and a slightly harder one with more theme-related things. Favorite Clues/Answers:  Easy - 18-Across, 6-Down Less Easy - 4-Across (Somehow it's never been clued as that in major outlets), 4-Down, 20-Down Easy PDF Less Easy PDF Easy - Across Lite Less Easy - Across Lite Constructed using the online crossword builder from Amuse Labs Created using the online crossword maker from Amuse Labs
